I experienced this with the e1000e driver in the Fedora distro, and after reading this report which seems to describe the same problem, decided to try the Intel e1000e driver from this site, but using the Intel e1000e driver also has the same issue. The issue is the wired ethernet has severely slow receive speeds, about 1-2Mbit/s, and what appears to be severe packet loss - periods of several seconds where no incoming traffic arrives.
